Evaluation & Humorous Speech Contest

Congratulations to the winners of Division H Contest. They will be competing at the District Conference Nov. 16Th and 17th.

Our Toastmaster Linda Williams was very creative as she prepared for this meeting held at a German restaurant in New Braunfels during Wurstfest weekend. It seems that the thought of food was in the air as she opened with her theme:

SPAM  Òa Surprisingly Palatable Achieved MilestoneÓ

Learning tidbits of trivia about the first meat product that did not require refrigeration and the company Hormel that produced it. We were all very aware that she was not talking about spam-that processed computer stuff that munches through our computers.

A third contest was presented by Linda to come up with an acronym for the name SPAM. This was an exercise to keep us quiet during the minutes of silence!

The winner Gloria Williams came up with:

Supremely

Positively

Awful

Meat

Guess what she won!!! A can of Supremely Positively Awful Meat

Evaluations were on the menu as the meeting began with the test speech by Michael Lebeau.

A great storyteller as he told personal stories of his lessons on doing the right thing.

A real challenge for the Evaluation contestants:

Ren Liner

Lou Gershman (2nd place)

Don Brooks

Doug Kelly  (winner 1st place)

Sharon Kaltenbacher

Michael was complimented, critiqued and challenged in many different ways by the best of the best, advancing from club and area level. Good food for thought (not spam) offered by all the contestants. Congratulations Doug Kelly for advancing to the District level competition.

Humorous speeches served as a delightful dessert served by

Lou Gershman Tales from the Crypt (winner 1st place)

Mark Crider humorously shared his side of what happens when you are around Ôthe guy you just canÕt likeÕ.

Sarah Fontenot (2nd place) The Art of Procrastination   6 tips on how to deal with this habit and keep it alive.

Rosalind Chavez posed humor in the question Òwhen do we become an adult and loose the childÓ

Christine Murray spoke of humor through the life of a frog and left us with a thought Òthey can always eat what bugs them!Ó

Thank you judges for your contribution to this contest.
